Class description:

This class offers an overview on the Maqams of the Levantine Music. It is dedicated to music enthusiasts and musicians who wish to get more knowledge on the maqam system. This class gives you the opportunity to differentiate between Maqams and better understand its concept and characteristics.

Although there are no pre-requirements or previous knowledge needed for this class, it is a plus if you have attended the Introduction to Levantine Music class or if you have a general knowledge on music. Bring your interests and curiosity and join.

يقدّم هذا الصف لمحة عامة عن مقامات المشرقية وهو مناسبٌ للمهتمين بالموسيقى وللموسيقيين الراغبين بالتعرّف على النظام المقاميّ. يتيح الصف الفرصة للتفريق بين المقامات الأساسيّة في الموسيقى المشرقيّة ولمعرفة أوسع حول النظام المقامي وخصائصه

The class is collective and it consists of 6 sessions, 1 hour each, for a duration of 6 weeks starting September 6.

Class description:

This class offers an elaborated introduction to delve into an in-depth study of the Maqam. It offers a theoretical approach towards a better understanding of the Maqam system. It is dedicated for musicians and researchers. This class comes within a series of “in-depth study of the Maqam”. It will be followed with other classes that delve into each Maqam of the Levantine music, their branches and routes.

Pre-required knowledge of the Maqam music whether practical or theoretical is needed.

يقدّم هذا الصف مقدّمة موسّعة للغوص في الدراسة المعمّقة في المقام. يقدّم الصف مقاربة نظريّة لفهم أعمق للمقامات المشرقيّة وهو موجّه للموسيقيين والباحثين في الموسيقى. يأتي هذا الصف ضمن سلسلة تحت عنوان "دراسة معمّقة في المقام". سيتبع هذا الصف صفوفًا تتعمّق في كل مقامٍ من المقامات المشرقيّة للبحث في أصولهم وفروعهم ومساراتهم.

In-depth study of the Maqams (The Rast Maqam) - class description:

This class offers an in-depth study of the Rast Maqam and its branches. It covers an introduction to Maqams, the definition of usoul and furou' of the Rast Maqam, the characteristics of the Rast Maqam and their relation with the branches.

Pre-required knowledge of the Maqam music whether practical or theoretical is needed.
